Growing up, I was always known as a troublemaker. It is hard to remember everything I did as a child but if I had to choose one memory it would have to be the time I threw milk at the teacher who watched the kids in lunch detention. I remember it was the end of the week because we were having a pep-rally, and everyone was excited for it. The scenery is some-what vivid. I cannot remember everyone who was there, but I do remember where I was sitting and what I was eating.
I was sitting in a corner facing a wall and I was eating carrots. Lunch detention was held in the stage in the cafeteria with the curtains closed. It was so tempting hearing my classmates have so much fun on the other side of the curtain. I remember the food being served as well. It came in a brown bag and it was a chicken sandwich with an apple, the milk, and a container with baby carrots. I hated the sandwich so all I ate was my apple and carrots. I also remember the teacher whom I threw the milk at. The teachers name was Ms. Soto, she had short hair with highlights, and she also wore glasses. She was very mean, and it seemed as if she hated her job. She would always tell us to shut up and she always threatened to give me another day of lunch detention if I looked around.
It all started when I was assigned lunch detention because I did not turn in my homework. I remember I did it, but I had just forgot it at home. There were no excuses though, so I was stuck in lunch detention. Back then I was friends with a girl named Perla Salinas. She and I did almost everything together. Anyways, she was also in lunch detention. She was in there for disruptive behavior. Not only was my best friend there, but my crush was too. So, in my head, I was hoping lunch detention would never end.
This goes all the way back to when I was in the 7th grade. I do not know exactly who started throwing food, but I do remember I was the last one who threw the carton filled with chocolate milk. It was almost an everyday thing when my classmates had food fights so really, I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. Ms. Soto was wearing a white cardigan and we had to pay for her dry cleaners. I remember the principal made me write an apology letter. I never thought of myself as a bad kid but as it seems, I was the biggest troublemaker in my family.
This memory stands out to me because it was one of the very first times I did something bad and got in trouble for it. My punishment was 3 days of ISS, in school suspension. I was lucky I didn’t get sent to point. I was near getting sent there but the principal let me off with a smaller punishment since I had nothing bad on my school record. When it first happened, I found it hysterical. I marked my name on school campus and I felt cool about it because I faced the teacher nobody else would. Now that I look back at it, it was the dumbest and rudest thing I ever did. Till this day, I regret it and if I ever see her again I will more than likely give her a more genuine apology.

Juliana I can not believe you did something like that. I understand that when we are growing up, we wat to be the cool ones, but, the things we do are not always the smartest. You could have gained popularity in a different way, but it is to late to change things. The good thing is that you got her cardigan dry cleaned.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in junior high and high school, I experienced so much food fights. I never had the urge to throw my food though, but the whole cafeteria would get punished for the certain few that started it. I am happy that your punishment was not too severe and that you apologized and had the teacher’s cardigan dry cleaned.
ReplyDeleteI wasn’t the biggest troublemaker in my family as basically all 3 of my siblings are troublemakers, but I definitely remember an instance in middle school where I kind of started a food fight. I was in 6th grade and told one of my 8th grade friends Gabby about the idea of a food fight because we had never had one before and they looked so cool on TV. I didn’t really think it was going to happen but my friend Gabby told all the 8th graders and somehow the whole school was in on it by the next week. The actual food fight only lasted about a minute and I ended up feeling really bad for the custodians.
